Black Ladybug. - Curinus coeruleus

Black Ladybug. - Curinus coeruleus
Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, Florida, USA
June 19, 2010
Size: About 6mm
First time I've ever seen an almost-entirely black ladybug.

Moved from Curinus.

doesn't look too much like Cladis nitidula, I think
Having seen specimens of C. nitidula in person, I don't think that's what this is. It lacks the multicolor iridescence of that species. On the other hand, Curinus coeruleus is a common species in Florida and this is a dead ringer for it.

This looks
very much like Cladis nitidula, a West indian species not known to occur in Florida. If you have the specimen or run across another I'd very much like to examine it. My contact information is under my profile.

also like Curinus coeruleus
We have that in Florida:

I was actually on in Florida
I was actually on in Florida for vacation, so I won't be back anytime soon. That's very interesting though.
