This little fly was avidly consuming juice from a rotting tomato in my back yard. I managed to get some decent photos, I think. Perhaps the Diptera experts will be able to point out some characteristics for ID of this genus, such as the "bristle on the pleura" mentioned in comments here:

Euxesta notata is the only species for the genus listed in the North Carolina State University collection (here). Is it possible to ID this to species?
