Unknown Bug - Epicauta pardalis
Whetstone, Cochise County, Arizona, USA

Size: 1/2" long, 1/8" wide
These bugs look to be a type of beetle. They have a soft shell and fly. They were found around one mesquite tree, probably around 1,000 in number. I did not see them eating anything.
