Small Harpaphe haydeniana?

Small Harpaphe haydeniana?
Los Trancos OSP, San Mateo/Santa Clara County, California, USA
June 28, 2010
Size: est 3cm
We found two of these in bay forest. They were much smaller than the Harpaphe haydeniana we've seen, and looked more dark brown than black. Are they just not full grown, or a different species?

Possibly Harpaphe
Another possibility is Xystocheir dissecta, but they tend to be lighter. I'll await more expert identification.
