Size: ~9 mm
Another soldier fly rescued from the pool... found this one about a week later than my previous post which was identified as genus Adoxomyia by Martin Hauser. Managed to get some better photos this time, but apparently this is a difficult genus, so I'm not sure if these images will help any in narrowing down to species. (Dr. Hauser's previous comments mentioned that this individual belongs in the lata group and could potentially be lata or appressa depending on the coloration of the pluera.)

Am I correct in assuming that the extended organ is the fly's ovipositor?
