marine springtail - Anurida maritima

marine springtail - Anurida maritima
Bass Beach, Hampton, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA
June 26, 2010
I had five goals that day:
1. Catch lots of crabs (I don't keep them I catch them for fun and let them go)
2. Photograph a kelp fly
3. Photograph a sand flea
4. Photograph marine springtails
5. Photograph a maritime earwig

Goal #4. Check. I went out to the tidepools to look for these guys and when I found them, the water was trickling out of the tide pools, and they went with it! I was trying to block up the flow of water but I kept seeing the little springtail float on past me, away out to sea. But I found one.

Anurida maritima
