Julia - Dryas iulia - female

Julia - Dryas iulia - Female
Naples (Golden Gate Estates), Collier County, Florida, USA
October 29, 2005
Size: Approx. 7 cm wingspan
It's not the prettiest specimen in the whole world, but this julia gets points for tenacity. The specimen was photographed only a few days after Hurricane Wilma pummelled our property, downing many trees and shredding most of our garden plants.

"A country butterfly can survive."
