strange bug - Corydalus cornutus

strange bug - Corydalus cornutus
Washington Depot, Litchfield County, Connecticut, USA
June 29, 2010
Size: about 5-6"
this bug was seen near a river in Washington Depot, Ct. It was about 5" long (w/o the feelers) we watched it for about 15 min and it did not seem to fly...it crawled very slowly. I have never seen anything like this before. Does anyone know what it is?

This is male Dobsonfly

Thank you!
Thank you very much for the response..... In all the pictures I have seen of the Dobsonfly the antennae are a very dark color and the wings are also dark. Is this one unusual in that its wings are silver and the antennae are whitish, almost transparent?

It may have just emerged
from the pupa. It'll probably darken over time. I have moved this image into the Guide, and frassed the other two (one was much like this one; the other was taken from an odd angle).
