I just wanted to add that this species is highly variable in color; the pronotum or elytra (or both) can be reddish-orange. You have shot two of these combinations now.

Quedius peregrinus, I've swept one from a field before too - they seem to be found haphazardly like this. Otherwise, they are collected in boggy habitat by pitfalls.
