A brief hour or two of sun brought out several butterflies in Everglades National Park. Most have already been coverd in BugGuide, but I thought this photo came out pretty well. I believe the line of spots on the underside of the forewing is distinctive for this species. I like the two-tone eyes, and the spot of pink(?) on top of the head. I presume this is a male as Tony Thomas has shown here:



Another individual at the same location was more heavily marked, presumably a female:
