Promethea moth - Callosamia promethea - Male
J.T. Nickel Family Wildlife and Nature Preserve, Cherokee County, Oklahoma, USA
May 16, 2010
This moth was discovered by Rusty Grimpe and photographed/identified by Jim Thayer. According to Mr. Thayer it's the first official record of Promethea in Oklahoma. They were conducting a Lepidoptera survey on the property and got to see 3 Promethea moths emerge from their cocoons.

As far as I know this is the first record for OK, they were thought to possibly be found there but this confirms it.

I would recommend letting Bill Oehlke know about this as he keeps records of these sorts. If you don't know his e-mail, just google him and you'll come across it.
