Here's a cropped version of only the mosquito - minus the Skipper. Thanks.

new species for Bugguide
I believe this is Ochlerotatus pullatus, a strange bird indeed. It's range is extremely disjunct. It is known to occur in MI. Characters I used, all dark tarsomeres, dark antennae/proboscis, hypostigmal area with scales, scales to back of mesepimeron.
I will make a page for it.
A little known secret is that there are many of these dark scaled Aedes sensu lato in the boreal forests and taiga that will be impossible to ID without a specimen in hand... The northern regions have an abundance of species with little to distinguish between them. i am beginning to feel that my ability to ID species from photos is fading...Not that it was ever too good to begin with, but I am wishing someone who works in mosquito taxonomy would step in to lend a hand...I have been out of the mosquito game for a while now.

My Mosquito
You mean I actually photographed something that deserves its own page? That's pretty exciting for me. THANKS! (I have other ones - maybe I should post them as well...)

...
Sure, by all means post some more mosquitoes or other insects. i would be interested to see what is out there.

...
I will check on this tonight.
