Bug - Perillus strigipes

Bug - Perillus strigipes
Okeechobee County, Florida, USA
February 4, 2006
The third orange/black bug I found today.

Moved
Moved from Oplomus.

identity?
Obviously the same species identified here:
as Perillus strigipes.

Which ID is correct? compare statement there.

Perillus strigipes looks good
Oh, that looks good, Boris! As is often the case, I stand corrected.

Moved to Oplomus, with trepidation
Moved from Stink Bugs. I guess this is a likely ID.

Oplomus, perhaps?
The pattern reminds me of the Florida Predatory Stink-bug, Euthyrhynchus, but it is not--this document mentions several similar genera, one being Oplomus. I can't find any illustrations on the web of species from Florida, but this plate from Biologia Centrali-Americana has several species from Central America. See, especially, #13 on that plate. Three species are listed for North America by nearctica.com.

A plausible guess, perhaps to be confirmed by an expert.

I agree.
Thank you.
