fly-phorid? - Apocephalus -

Size: tiny

This tiny fly was observed at night on my porch stairs with a light on.
The entire time I watched it was rolling and flipping over as if in some kind of distress,
but maybe this strange behavior is normal for this fly.

Since these flies are difficult to ID from photos I saved it in case Brian V. Brown (or someone else) might want it.

Lynn- sure, send it to me and I'll identify it for you. It is an Apocephalus (Mesophora) sp., but I'll need to see it in order to ID it.

Some of the species of this subgenus are parasitoids of fireflies, but many have no life history known.
