Explanation of Names
Generic epithet Xanthia is from Greek meaning "yellow." (1)
Numbers
The sole North American representative was previously thought to be the Eurasian X. togata, but was shown to be a distinct and new species (X. tatago) by Lafontaine and Mikkola in 2003.
