Identification
wings light brownish-gray with variably dense dark speckling; AM and PM lines black, prominent; PM line angled diagonally from inner margin toward apex, and with highly irregular toothed and scalloped outline; PM line meets costa in apical area; AM line scalloped or zigzagged
hindwing slightly paler; PM line irregular, fainter than on forewing; outer margin slightly angular
Range
west coast mountains from Alaska to California, east to New Mexico, north to Alberta
Season
adults fly in late spring and summer
Food
larvae feed on leaves of coniferous trees
See Also
Nepytia and Cingilia species are similar but have a sinuate PM line whose upper portion curves basally just before meeting costa in subapical area [whereas in Enypia, PM line continues on diagonal line, meeting costa in apical area]
