Unknown Fly (with Yellow tarsal socks) Rydell NWR, Minnesota, Polk County, Minnesota, USA July 7, 2010 Size: 8-10 mm
I'm not certain, but this looks like be a freshly pupated Marsh Fly (Sciomyzidae). Am I right? And what is with the yellow tarsal 'socks' and the maxillary 'bubble'? (Sorry for the poor photo. The image was captured from a video.) (Corrected error in entries for State and County for this specimen on 22 August 2010.)
