Eristalis transversa - male

Eristalis transversa - Male
Heron Haven, Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska, USA
July 6, 2010
Size: ~1 cm

Moved
Moved from Syrphid Flies.

Your ID's good, Brian.
A caveat for future flies: This thorax and bright colors are normally associated with Palpada. I consider this Eristalis an oddity, but who am I?

Thanks, Ron!
Got lucky with the Kaufman guide. I'll certainly keep Palpada under consideration in the future...
