Might this be S. elevatus? - Scaphinotus elevatus

Might this be S. elevatus? - Scaphinotus elevatus
Shaw Nature Reserve near Gray Summit, Franklin County, Missouri, USA
July 7, 2010
Size: 20 mm
Ted Macrae suggests this may be Scaphinotus elevatus. Several of these have been noticed by my coworkers in the mesic woods portion of the native plant garden at the nature reserve. Do these tend to have notable simultaneous emergence of adults?

Tan-colored mites were distributed all over the body, but especially numerous on the sides, as in the second image.
