I found this critter today. Is it a Leptoglossus phyllopus?

Correct…
Only this NA species has the characteristic straight light-colored bar across the "waist".

my question is how to control these little pest. I have hundreds on my tomato plants. any help out there?

For what it's worth...
L. phyllopus looks right to this non expert.
