Red form, Truncated True Katydid - Paracyrtophyllus robustus - Male
Balcones Canyonlands NWR, Flying X tract, Burnet County, Texas, USA
June 8, 2010
This red form katydid was one of many present in early-mid-June on a few Refuge tracts in Burnet and Travis Counties. Present on plateau live oaks and shin oaks. Although common, they were not at outbreak levels as apparently seen in Medina Co. and surrounding areas in May. Uploaded on behalf of photographer David Morgan (Texas State University).
