Soldier fly
I think this is a soldier fly and most likely Black Soldier Fly - Hermetia illucens, but let's wait for experts.

I'm pretty sure you're right
After looking at pictures on Google, I'm nearly certain now that this is a black soldier fly. The eyes have a nearly identical pattern of iridescence, the wings are a perfect match and so is the body shape.

If I posted the picture of the eyes, would that help? I looked at pictures from Google and I think this is a black soldier fly.
