Single-dotted Wave - Hodges #7126 (Idaea dimidiata) - Idaea dimidiata

Single-dotted Wave - Hodges #7126 (Idaea dimidiata) - Idaea dimidiata
East Brunswick, Middlesex County, New Jersey, USA
June 11, 2010
Found near CF light at back of house.

Thought it was Small Frosted Wave Moth - Hodges #7152 (Scopula compensata).
Thanks Bob, for the correction.
And I thought I had searched long and hard and had the right one.

In going through old moth photos I found a shot of this species from 6/9/2004. The image is nowhere as representative as this one so it is not displayed on Bugguide. RW 9/12/2010
Just goes to show how much learning there is to do with moths.

So much to learn…
I really thought I had this one but I missed it for a similarly marked moth and wasn't thorough enough. Just shows how much there is to learn. Thanks, as always, for the help.

And yes, I can see the finer differences now.

Probably 7126 - Idaea dimidiata
Scopula compensata is to be expected only from South Carolina and southward. (no rsvp, thanks)
