Jumping Bristletail - Mesomachilis

Jumping Bristletail - Mesomachilis
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, San Diego County, California, USA
April 29, 2010
Size: BL about 12 mm
We read on BugGuide that the presence or absence of scales on the antennae helps ID to family. However, I cannot tell whether scales are present or not. Actually, the antennae appear banded.

Machilidae: Machilinae
The banding on the antennae is a pattern of the scales. This is Machilidae: Machilinae, probably Mesomachilis.

Machilidae: Machininae, possibly Mesomachilis
Thank you so much for these identifications. They are so helpful in learning more about the insect--and this metallic bristletail is stunning. We are grateful for your help.
