caterpillar on a grape leaf - Desmia

caterpillar on a grape leaf - Desmia
Lancaster, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA
July 14, 2010

What are your thoughts on these?

Wish we knew more :(

I moved all but one
The brown one on willow looks like a Desmia, but it's not on grape, so I don't know what it is.

Moved
Moved from Butterflies and Moths.
It certainly appears to be a Desmia sp. with the spiky hairs and the pairs of black spots behind the head and at the end of the abdomen. And the only ones in the northeast are these 2 look alikes.

All these little guys look the same to us!
We can't even separate them by family! See Desmia for something similar, but we're not convinced. We were expecting Tortricidae!
