near Austin, Travis County, Texas, USA

Size: Approximately 1cm
This dung beetle was seen near the Lost Creek Country Club golf course near Austin, TX. The dung is from a dog. (Not mine!)

I agree.
Canthon
is the most likely genus. We only have a few of the true dung-rollers in North America.

Nice image
It would show a lot better if you cropped tighter. Remember that only you and the editors can see the full size image; besides it shows better in thumbnails if the bug looks bigger.

Yes,
You'd better crop this one too as John says and also you can link both images since they are the same specimen. If you are not familiar with linking, tag each image; they will show up at the left and you will have the option to link them underneath. Lots to learn in this site but it is fun : )
