Moved tentatively; venustus looks identical from above...
...but 'anterior margin of prosternum of male with a stout spine, that of female with a V-shaped lobe' -- you may want to check that or add a closeup

what about C. bispinus. That one is also very similar from above. Do you know how that one could be distinguished from calidus as well.

no, sorry --
not offhand; the southern
bispinus
is not in the differential for New England fauna; White's key (available online; you probably have it anyway) couplets are evasive: overlapping size diff. in females & geography -- it boils down to aedeagi where the two coexist, which is GA-FL-OK
