Biggest spider I've ever seen - Dolomedes tenebrosus - female

Biggest spider I've ever seen - Dolomedes tenebrosus - Female
Oakdale, New London County, Connecticut, USA
July 16, 2010
Size: 3" front to rear leg tips
I saw this spider near my garage door. I think it may be a wolf spider as I know they get quite big, but I've never seen one this big. It is protecting an egg sac. I took the picture during a commercial break while watching Arachnophobia. I had to get quite close with the macro function on; if it had moved while I was so close I would have died (or at least wet myself and dropped the camera. Side view shows pedipalp with no widening so I am assuming it is an adult female.
