Size: ~3/8"
This small fly landed on the leaf one of my Butterfly Bushes. It stayed no longer than 20 seconds, so these are the only shots I could get.

Syrphid Flies (Syrphidae)
Thank you! I went and edited the name to its actual ID. Is that alright to do?

Name doesn't matter
The name isn't really important. You can pick any useful or descriptive or unique title. The system shows what family page it is on, and adds the genus or species to the title if it is identified that far.

Name doesn't matter
Thank you for your reply. As I'm an amateur in the world of insects ID's, I find it helpful for me to have the proper name under my photos. It helps me to learn and retain the actual name.

I'm so glad you have this site! Many thanks to you and all involved in creating and maintaining this wonderful source that helps people all over North America to gain greater knowledge, and thus appreciation, of insects.
