This moth was photographed at about 11:30 a.m. on dry vegetation and California Aster (
Corethrogyne filaginifolia) in Coastal Sage Scrub at the Claremont Colleges'
Robert J. Bernard Biological Field Station. Any information about its identity will be greatly appreciated.
Update 9/3/12: The scientific name of California Aster was listed in the original post as
Lessingia filaginifolia var.
filaginifolia. In the
latest revision of the Jepson Manual the name has been changed to
Corethrogyne filaginifolia, and infraspecific taxa are no longer recognized, and the description has been modified accordingly.
