Small moth? or leafhopper? - Galleria mellonella

Small moth? or leafhopper? - Galleria mellonella
Williamson County, Texas, USA
July 20, 2010
Size: 12-14 mm
Found this small insect between the "arms" of a clothes-pin hanging from line in early afternoon. Initially thought it was a leafhopper because of the general shape. Extremely well camouflaged against aged wood. Despite gentle urging, it would not move to the "outside" of the clothes-pin for easier photography. (And if your flash is going to fail, it will fail when you're trying to shoot a camouflaged dull colored insect in a protected location.) The insect stayed on that arm of that clothespin all afternoon.

I looked first through the leafhopper images, but when I really enlarged my photos in the computer, I saw what appeared to be moth-type antennae lying back along its body and no sign of forward-sideward facing leafhopper antennae. I've now looked at micro-moths and still haven't found its match. Maybe it's not a moth OR a leafhopper.

The width of that particular clothespin tip is 9 mm, and I have one view of the insect crosswise on the tip, which gave me a total length of 12-14 mm. (Direct measurement of clothes-pin, indirect of insect.) Another view will follow.
