Robber Fly Mallophora fautrix - Mallophora fautrix

Robber Fly Mallophora fautrix - Mallophora fautrix
Fullerton Arboretum, Orange County, California, USA
July 21, 2010
Size: 20-25mm
Assuming this is a Mallophora fautrix since it says "The only one of its genus in California."
Just wanted to get an OK here before I moved it there.

Wish I could have got more shots, but a kid walked by and scared it off. ugh.
Anyone have idea of sex?

One of my favorite flies for sure
Great shots... a quick note, I think Fullerton Arboretum is in Orange, not LA?

Opps
You are so right. LA was set as my preset. I will correct it. Thanks for the comment on the shots too.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Exceptinally nice shots, Bruce
Nice specimen as well. I photographed a lighter colored specimen there several years ago. And yes, your ID is solid.

Thanks
for the nod and the comment.
