Size
Adult body length (excluding legs) ranges from 3.3-4.5 millimeters.(1)
Range
Extreme southern California, northern part of the Gulf of Mexico, and southwestern New Mexico.(1)(2)(3)(4)
Habitat
A salt-loving species only found on salt flats, near salt springs, salt water, or salt marshes.(5) It was once thought to be extinct, especially with its type locality now under water, and only 3 specimens ever found in over 70 years of collection. However, additional specimens have been found more recently from alkaline lake beds in the Mojave Desert where it may actually be locally abundant.(2)
