Lyric Cicada - Neotibicen lyricen - male

Lyric Cicada - Neotibicen lyricen - Male
Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana, USA
July 3, 2010
I found this guy at ground level at 5:00p.m., then startled him to flight to a nearby tree. Can anyone confirm that this is a Lyric Cicada? I'm new to cicadas, and I'd appreciate any suggestions for good books.

Thank you
Thanks so much for confirming the i.d. Any idea whether it is a male or female?

Male
The females have sharper bodies (tails) and the males seem more robust + Ventral Aspect, the opercula are visible

Now I get it!
After reading your description and looking at a pair of cicadas I found that had died while mating, I finally understand how to tell the difference between males and females. Thank you so much for educating me!
