Melanoplus gracilis or Paroxya clavuliger? -
Paroxya clavuliger
-
Occoquan Bay NWR, Prince William County, Virginia, USA
July 23, 2010
There were other
Paroxya clavuliger
in the area, but the bright green femur is suggestive of
Melanoplus gracilis
. Do they share similar habitat?

It is Paroxya
The color varies, and some are much more green than others.
M. gracilis
, I suspect (but I haven't studied the issue), should be moved to
Paroxya
, and is very very similar; however, as far as I know, it always has short wings (???).
