Aphid Ecology in One Picture - Aphis Encino, Los Angeles County, California, USA February 16, 2006
Aphids are feeding on Salvia brandegei, a California native sage, giving honeydew to Argentine Ants (Linepithema humile), and being eaten by a syrphid larva. To top it off, the big brown aphid looks like it's been parasitized by an aphid mummifier wasp.
Any ID on the syrphid or the aphids?
