Which Stinkbug be Ye? - Podisus serieventris

Which Stinkbug be Ye? - Podisus serieventris
East Greenwich, Kent County, Rhode Island, USA
July 24, 2010
Size: 10mm
Podisus species?

Podisus, prob. serieventris -- det. D.B. Thomas
Moved from Podisus.

definitely a Podisus, maybe serieventris -- will revisit
ventral shot would dispel doubts

Moved from ID Request.

Darn.
No ventral & now its raining.

rule of thumb:
to be on the safe side, always try to get a ventral of duller-looking stinkers (well, that's a loose definition), esp. Podisus and Euschistus.
ventrals not needed in Brochymena (head is critical instead)... and i personally would prefer not to see another photo of BMSB in my life :)))

Yup
Not sure on the species, but the dulled spines suggest that it's probably not P. maculiventris.

BMSB?
I would have said Brown Marmorated Stink Bug, though I'm not sure they've made it to RI yet. Are the antennae not striped enough?

Usually
You can tell Podisus fairly easily. The wings meet together to make that black line in the back. That's one of the easier ways to tell the difference.
