Subadult female Mecaphesa (Misumenops) schlingeri - Mecaphesa schlingeri - female

Subadult female Mecaphesa (Misumenops) schlingeri - Mecaphesa schlingeri - Female
Stulsaft Park, Redwood City, San Mateo County, California, USA
July 25, 2010
Size: 5 mm
Swept a pair of these crab spiders from dying grasses and some composite flowers in a disturbed field. Although this is a subadult under the microscope, I think it must be this species based on the striking markings that match Schick's description and the fact that I swept an adult male of this species at the same time:

What do you think of
?

Yes!
I think you hit one - I must have missed this because I only searched on Misumenops images! I believe that Marin County was the center of distribution for this species and the pattern looks very good for schlingeri. Although many of my local Misumenops seem be variably marked, it looks like this one may be fairly distinctive.

..
Very nice, Ken, getting both the male and the female! Good palp picture.
