Dineutus americanus ? - Dineutus discolor

Dineutus americanus ? - Dineutus discolor
French Creek adjacent to PA 322W, Venago County, Pennsylvania, USA
June 29, 2010
Size: 12.8mm
Collected from the French Creek Watershed at a point where the stream flowed
adjacent to Penn SR 322W. There were two large groups of 50+ in a slower moving
portion of the stream. Barely perceptable stria lines, yellow legs and more robust
body leads me to Dineutus, the americanus guess is just that from reviewing the
possibilities. Confirmation/correction most welcome. If correct, an initial data
point for PA.

May be hard to get to species-level without dissection of genitilia. Not sure about the local fauna.
