Which underwing? - Catocala piatrix

Which underwing? - Catocala piatrix
Clinton County, Illinois, USA
July 28, 2010
I collected the caterpillar outside my house early this month, fed it, and held onto the cocoon. Today, my moth finally decided it was time to meet the world and was waiting for me when I got home from work. I know it's an underwing, and although it wouldn't let me get a shot of the hindwings, when I released it and it flew away, I could clearly see they were banded in orange. I was so excited that I forgot to measure it, but the plastic canvas upon which it's sitting has 7 squares per inch.
