Eudiagogus rosenschoeldi - female

Eudiagogus rosenschoeldi - Female
Middleburg, Clay County, Florida, USA
July 28, 2010
Size: 5.8mm
Collected on Sesbania spp wild pea while on morning walk. A pair were mating and
continued to do so for the greater part of the day while in a vial. Interesting display
by the male. For the most part, he rested his left rear tarsi on the females back, while
constantly stamping, in turn, both front feet. He would then rub both front tarsi on his
middle legs then mount the female for from 1-3 minutes at a time. This pattern occured
at least 12 times over a three hour period. The species is listed in The Florida Checklist
and this is an initial data submission for Florida. Last year I collected E. maryae from
the same area, but haven't seen one of them this year.
