Cybocephalus nipponicus Endrödy-Younga 1971
Size
1.0-1.35 mm (apex of clypeus to apex of elytra)(1)
Identification
the only adventive cybocephaline in NA and our only sexually dimorphic species (males have a yellow to light brown head and pronotum or sometimes just a light brown head)(1)
Range
native to Southeast Asia, adventive elsewhere around the world; in our area, MA-FL-TX(1)
Food
Diaspididae (recorded feeding on a dozen armored scale genera)(1)
Remarks
was misidentified as C. binotatus and released in FL (1998) to combat the cycad aulacaspis scale(1)
