huge spider - Trichonephila clavipes

huge spider - Trichonephila clavipes
Davie / Tree Tops County Park, Broward County, Florida, USA
July 29, 2010
Size: 50 mm minimum
quite large spider with likewise huge spider web. They were all over the park. All sizes, but the one in this image was as big as my hand, including leg span. There always seemed to be a much smaller spider hanging around on the same spider web. As I really know very little about spiders, this was most amuzing to me. Can some one ID this spider?

Beautiful image.

thanks
for the comment Lynette..I was very excited when I saw this colorful "beast" in front of me...impressive spidy, and then I looked around and they were all over. I took many photos of this one, although I seldom take photos of non-hexapoda.

looks to be
female Nephila clavipes. the smaller spider in the webs were most likely males.

thanks !
for the ID!
