Danaus plexippus vs. Limenitis archippus
A comparison of a hindwing from a Monarch (1) and a Viceroy (2).
The Viceroy ( Limenitis archippus ) has a dark line across each hindwing (white arrow) whereas the Monarch ( Danaus plexippus ) does not. The Viceroy is also smaller then Monarch, and these images are not of the same scale.
