Male Perdita on Calochortus - Perdita - male

Male Perdita on Calochortus - Perdita - Male
Circle X Ranch, Santa Monica Mountains Nat. Rec. Area, Ventura County, California, USA
July 7, 2010
On a larger scale, this is what this (relatively small) bee looked like as it lay patiently in wait for a female to visit the flower. (Well, here it's also warily keeping an eye on the strange hominid holding that big black thing that intermittantly emits a bright flash of light. :-)
