5366 - Crambus watsonellus
A distinctive moth in a distinctive subfamily of Crambidae. See Plate at Moth Photographers Group (no rsvp, thanks)

Crambus
Thanks for the id, but don't you think this moth is a closer match to C. satrapellus?

Yes, Definitely 5372 - Crambus satrapellus
Thanks for catching my error. I was thinking there was only one species with the smaller eliptical spot under the larger spot and stopped scrolling down the plate at MPG when I reached what turned out to be the wrong one. LOL, shame on me, one of the photos of it on the MPG species page is my own, taken in Florida.

Crambus
If not for your expertise Bob, I would never would have made it to Crambus, but still be flailing in the deep waters of moth identification as the neophyte I am. Sorry to say thanks when you've asked not to be thanked, but I truly appreciate the time you (and others) take to lend your expertise to BugGuide.
