Snout Beetle - Otiorhynchus meridionalis

Snout Beetle - Otiorhynchus meridionalis
In Westwood; elevation 5100ft, Lassen County, California, USA
July 16, 2010
Size: Body length 8mm
Found this snout beetle inside the home, as I occasionally do. Sometimes I see one also on the outside of the house. My notes for older photos mentions genus Otiorhynchus, either O. ovatus, or O. rugosostriatus.

neither of the above -- this one will be Otio #3 on your list
...and submission #3 of this species on BG

Moved from Snout and Bark Beetles.

Thanks V!
I have two good size Lilac hedges which explains their presence. I also have strawberry plants, so perhaps someday i will come up with one of the other Otio's.

this one seems to be the least common of the three
O.o. is just everywhere, rivaled only by nitrogen, and O.r. visits my basement sometimes, too -- for a small talk and a friendly drink
