I keyed this out using "Ground Beetles and Wrinkled Bark Beetles of
SC" to C. tricolor tricolor, although I do not know how that may
translate range wise to the beetles of Mississippi.

Thank you Peter. Question, where can one get checklists of beetles
found in a state. Florida has an excellent source, both in print and
on the web. What other states have a similar product that you know
of. I just finished a 22 state road trip and would have loved to
have had a better idea of what was in each area. Tks VR Bruce

Bousquet, Y., and A. Larochelle. 1993. Catalogue of the Geadephaga (Coleoptera: Trachypachidae, Rhysodidae, Carabidae, including Cicindelini) of America North of Mexico. Mem. Entomol. Soc. Can. 167: 1-397. Out of print but available in university or entomolgy department libraries. Each species name is followed by a list of known occurrences in states and provinces. Be aware that a long-awaited revision is forthcoming next year likely.

Conversely, I am aware of several published carabid checklists for certain states and provinces -- too many to mention in a short reply. My only interest is in Carabidae so I don't keep track of checklists that ignore that group.
