Dermestes ? - Dermestes caninus

Dermestes ? - Dermestes caninus
Albany, Dougherty County, Georgia, USA
July 18, 2010
Size: 7.6 & 8.8mm
Collected under remains of armadillo. Neither of these have the prominent orange
scutellum that seems common on guide pages. I did not see any others though that it
might be, but with my track record that'a not surprising. Confirmation/correction most
welcome.

vestiture, both dosal & ventral, says, caninus
dorsum: vestiture of the scutellum & adjacent elytral area uniform (scutellum contrasting in talpinus) + transverse white spots in mid-prothorax; venter: almost no naked surface on abdomen

Moved from Dermestes talpinus.
