Bumble Bee or Fly? - Eristalis flavipes - female

Bumble Bee or Fly? - Eristalis flavipes - Female
Jordanelle Dam wetlands, Wasatch County, Utah, USA
August 4, 2010
Size: about 1/2 inch
I took these pictures thinking this was a bumble bee because of the size and coloring but now I'm wondering if it's some kind of syrphid fly. It has funny eyes.

Definitely a fly.
I won't venture any further than that (although I suspect you are correct that it's a Syrphid).
